Five screens of the SHPD app: home, shipping options, package details, checkout and order details.

SHPD lets someone in Spain send a parcel to Venezuela or Cuba from their phone, or have staff buy an item and ship it for them. Behind the app sit an API and an admin platform where the operations team runs every shipment.

I joined as CTO in 2025. I designed and coded the mobile app myself, from the first screen to the store release, and built the admin platform that manages it.

  • 98API routes
  • 37app screens
  • 12order statuses in the operations flow
  • 2app languages

Money

  • A pricing engine with a paper trail

Tariffs per country and service, volumetric weight, insurance tiers by declared value and a per-box limit, returned as a breakdown the customer can read.

  • Cards and wallets

Stripe payment intents with saved cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and webhook signatures verified on the server.

The app's splash screen and four onboarding screens, each with a line-drawn phone character.
Screens from the app's design file.

The app

  • Three ways to sign in

Email with token sessions, Apple and Google. Password reset opens the app by deep link, with a web page as fallback.

  • Told at every step

In-app and push notifications from templates in English and Spanish, driven by the order and shipment status flows.

  • Store releases

Android 16 KB page-size compliance, SDK 35 targeting and 56 builds on the way to version 1.0.6.

Operations

  • An admin suite for the people doing the work

Shipments, orders, users, payments, pricing and promotions, with a command palette that searches shipments and users at once and CSV export.

  • What it became

SHPD went on to develop BlueBox, an international marketplace for the brand. Most of BlueBox's back end is based on this suite.

Admin suite dashboard: revenue, new shipments, pending pickups and new users, the latest shipments and how many are at each stage.
One shipment in the admin suite: its stages, the journey from Madrid to Caracas, the package and how its price was worked out.
